chehalis lake

beautiful chehalis lake has been inaccessible for most of our time in chilliwack.  it is one of the closest lakes to our house as the crow flies, and we can see its surrounding peaks from our deck, but the forestry road to the lake has been closed due to rockslides and unsafe bridges.  apparently it opened up last year.  the news necessitated a day trip to check out the lake and the forestry sites available in the area.
ty enjoyed the drive up (about an hour), the natural teeter totter we found, and of course throwing rocks in the water.
zeke enjoyed eating and toddling and crawling, and of course looking up to his big brother.
chehalis lake is quite big, but completed undeveloped except for a small forestry campsite on the west side.  from here one can reach multiple small alpine lakes, as well as explore the rockslide that destroyed the previous camp sites.
it's fun to add one more lake to our possible destinations.  access to the chehalis valley is very exciting.  i am already ruminating/investigating a trek into the chehalis peaks that would involve 4x4ing, kayaking, hiking and scrambling.  very enjoyable to expand my internal representation of our immediate external environment.  so much to explore!

we were impressed with the road. not too bad at all, but we have 33inch tires, so i'm sure you could do it but a lot slower.
