plans for february

now that niko has found his voice on our blog he has more to say.

kapsowar is a village in the western mountains of kenya bordering the great rift valley. the population of the village and immediate area is ~10,0000. its a 3 hour drive to the ugandan border and an 8 hour drive to nairobi. there is one hospital in the area with 2 kenyan and 3 american docs; it is run by africa inland mission. there are several schools in the village as well as opportunities for kylie to utilize her event coordinating abilities. we will even have a guest bedroom! and dont worry niko, we will come back for you.

That's cool that you're going guys. I grew up for three years and went to Rift Valley Academy and then went back last year to be a dorm mom too. I'm sure you'll visit the Kijabe medical center at some point... so enjoy the view from there for me!

If you need anything... or have any questions... feel free to ask. Hope all your prep goes well.

we have committed for 6 months and plan to stay around 1 year; but with julie getting married in july who knows?
niko is probably going to stay with a different julie who will be living outside kamloops. that way hopefully his buddy josh can teach him how to be a good dog.

Congratulations! Great to be able to check in here and know how you two are what is going on. Have you read any of Neale Donald Walsch's books like Conversations with God? I saw the movie Conversations w/God this weekend (autobiographical) inspired by his writing - well worth seeing when it comes near you. Exciting about Julie and Lowell, right? Love you lots, Auntie Cheryl

Exciting. I have a friend who volunteered there for a couple of weeks when she was in Africa. She wanted to be a doctor or nurse so they let her watch cool operations and deliver a baby. She was pretty excited about it all. Have fun!!

Wow, that's really exciting that the plans are falling into place. You're going to be home at Christmas right??? I'll be expecting you to keep up on your blog in Africa and tell us all your wild and crazy adventures. Though I imagine an internet connection will be a bit harder to come by. However they don't call it the WORLD WIDE WEB for nothing! Its world wide baby!
