we have arrived safely in uganda and are currently in jinja, a city on lake victoria right at the mouth of the nile river. the title of this post actually doesnt make much sense here b/c it is swahili and people here dont really speak swahili. however we find ourselves speaking swahili all the time to them anyways... it is a hard habit to break.
crossing the border yesterday was pretty fun, and the customs agents were quite funny and welcoming, but then the matatu ride into jinja was loooooong and bumpy and hot and the back door popped open twice and our friend rachel's backpack fell out onto the road.
we have had a much better time in jinja today. we walked through the market and chris ate some grasshopper.
we jumped on a boda boda (motorbike taxi) to the source of the nile and took a boat ride from the nile to lake victoria and back.
we honoured the nile by having a nile special on the bank. we also visited the place where 1/7th of ghandi's ashes were scattered.
tomorrow it is back to matatus, although we are not sure where we are going. there are some little islands in lake victoria we may check out but we will see how we feel.
this computer will not allow me to place pictures within the text for some reason, so you will have to decide which picture should go where. oh... also, it is no longer letting me upload pictures, so you will have to imagine the scenes not pictured.

Jambo,
Thought I would use what little
swahilli I learned. From the pictures looks like you guys are enjoying your trip. Looks like it is hotter than it was in Kapsowar. As you have probably heard it is sweltering here. 35 today and a predicted high of 39 tomorrow. Hopefully your matatu ride tomorrow will be better that the last.
Enjoy!
Love,
Mom/Cherri
